Regardless of your party affiliation, we should all be concerned about the amount of power held by social media platforms and big technology companies like Apple, Google, and Amazon. In a matter of days, these three threw their weight around to destroy a popular conservative platform, Parler, in the name of keeping the American public safe. But can we trust these companies to be the gatekeepers of morality and our security? I think common sense would tell us no.

Why Big Tech Cannot Be Trusted

With a little bit of research, you can find out which of these companies was at one point willing to censor…

Let’s be Honest About How We Have Failed Each Other

When the protests broke out earlier this year after the murder of George Floyd, the whole movement was painted with a broad brush by most on the right, including many Christians. All that most conservatives could do was focus on the violent elements while failing to give an ear to a group that felt disenfranchised, a group of people that were hurting deeply. The pain of the black community was dismissed, thrown by the wayside. Their stories didn’t matter.

George Floyd, a Christian, who served Jesus faithfully for five years with a remarkable transformation story, was painted as a criminal…

Understanding Israel’s militarization and the spread of Christianity.

Have you ever wondered how one little nation can cause so much consternation? Israel is geographically tiny compared to great powers like the United States, Russia, and China. How small is it? It is barely larger than New Jersey, and yet, this little country causes so much angst among nations (read my previous article to find out just how much). All that trouble, and it is not because of its size, but because of its location.

How Its Strategic Location Has Always Put Israel on the Defensive

You might be surprised to know that this love-hate relationship the world has with Israel is not new to the 20th and 21st centuries…

The UN Resolutions That Tell Us How The World Really Feels About Israel

The UN General Assembly passed or is expected to pass 17 resolutions against Israel in their 2020–2021 session compared to 6 resolutions against other countries in the rest of the world. Yes, you read that right. That is 6 resolutions total in a world that includes top human right abusers such as North Korea, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Venezuela, China, Russia, to name just a few. North Korea, for example, had just one resolution lobbied against it. Is Israel really a 17 times greater abuser of human rights than North Korea?

You can find the details on each of these resolutions…

Today we celebrate Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples as written in the book of Acts. It marked the beginning of the Christian church.

Pentecost did not originate in the book of Acts. It is the Greek word for the Feast of Weeks or Feast of the Harvest (modern day Shavout) as found in Deuteronomy 16:17. The Feast of Weeks was one of the feasts or observances God decreed in the Old Testament. …

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (ESV)

During a time of crisis, we must remember that our fight is a spiritual one. There is only one way to truly face this beast head-on. Prayer. Of course, there are practical things that we will need to do, but prayer moves and shakes the things that we cannot see. With that in mind, I wanted to provide a guide on how to…

Part of me wondered if it was even necessary to write this post. I like to think that common sense would prevail among Christians as they react to the increasingly disturbing news. Then I realized that fear has a way of making us forget everything we’ve learned and what we stand for. So I have put together a list of Biblical truths to help ground us during these times.

Self-Isolation is Godly

Ever wonder why God included so many detailed rules in Old Testament Law? I have one word for you. Hygiene. …

Romantic movies have done us women a great injustice. They have fed us a lie that creates rifts in Western marriages. That is the idea that our husbands can and should fulfill ALL of our emotional needs. I have fed into that lie as well but the reality is that my husband doesn’t understand me. That doesn’t mean that I am doomed to unhappy marriage and neither are you. And here is why.

My Husband Doesn’t Understand Me…The Reality of All Marriages

Men and women have two very different ways of interpreting the world around them. There may be some overlap here and there, but in the end we…

Life can feel pretty blah if we wander aimlessly without purpose. Even those of us that have been Christians for some time can struggle to find our calling, the purpose for which God created us.

Usually our individual calling is tied to our natural gifts, talents, and interests. And there are methods for narrowing those down and choosing the path or paths that God has for us.

But our calling will be ineffective if we fail to acknowledge one very important, but simple truth. That truth is woven in the life and ministry of the greatest person in the Bible…

Suitcases. They were nicely lined up in the hallway right outside our apartment’s front door. We noticed them as we were about to leave for school when we heard our stepdad yell, “Go through the back door!” I don’t think he knew we were half way out and had already seen the suitcases. I didn’t know it at the time, but those suitcases would haunt my prayers for the next 16 years and they would teach me why God sometimes delays in answering prayers.

The suitcases held the belongings of my stepdad and my 18-month-old sister. Technically, she was my…
