Why the Left Lost the Latino Vote
What is more offensive than an insult comic calling Puerto Rico the island of garbage? Pundits and social media commentators calling Latino men racist and misogynistic for losing Democrats the election. This kind of attitude towards Latino men is exactly why they voted with conservatives this year. Democrats just do not understand who we are.
Left-leaning media put us all in a box.
The offensive language towards Latino men is indicative of a left-leaning media that has characterized Latinos with a broad brush. They put all of us Latinos in a box. They believed that Trump’s threats of deporting illegal immigrants would cower us to vote for Harris. As the election has proven, that was not the case. So now they are switching gears and trying to blame Latino men for being sexist and racist failing to see what truly drove us to vote conservative.
Are there racists and misogynistic men in Latino culture? Of course. Personally, as a Latina, I have encountered some elements of that. I am not going to deny it. But as much as I have interacted with some racist, misogynistic Latino men (and white, and black, and Asian, etc), not a single one that I know who voted for Trump is like that at all.
